Citi Travel booking with Thankyou points, really was never a strong suit when compared to AMEX and Chase point bookings, AMEX offers good selections of fine hotels and resorts, and Chase points usually can book redemption rates at 1 point=1.5 cents.
but a few months ago when Citi launched the new portal with Booking.com, they offered unlimited use of $100 off per $500 (including taxes and fees) on hotel bookings, so maybe it's time to look into some hotel booking with City Thankyou points.
the promotion ends on 1/31/24, so if you like me, begin to look into next year's travel needs, it can be a good alternative.
In 2023 I did 11 trips, for 2024 so far I booked 6 trips and looking for good redemption fares to Africa.
To Africa, Oneworld AA miles on Qatar, or QR/BA Avios
I think you need business class for going to Africa. Haha.
QR QSuite should be the top option. AA miles cost you the least as well as no YQ. However QR's own program sees a lot more seats. QR uses the same Avios system as BA, and these 2 programs are freely transferred between each other.
For sure you know BA is transfer partner of 4 flexible currencies, with Chase and AMEX often have 20 to 30% transfer bonus.
We have a less than 2 hours flight from LHR this Spring and I decide to redeem business for only 15K Avios + $1 - reason? We may need to wait at LHR for close to 4 hours or we just make the departure - all depends on how the ship clears Immigration and Custom at Southampton. Business class ticket has lounge access. For a 4 hours wait, the lounge access is very very useful. Redeeming coach would be 9250 Avios, for an additional <6K Avios to ensure lounge access at either T3 (multiple Oneworld airlines) or T5, BA itself only, it is well worth the cost.

买新手机退回$800,lol
以前的工作搞了一张,出差方便,就一直留着。年费550,但是会还给你300 travel credit,再加上其他的小福利,基本也能cover的年费。
