To be a good manager; 1. you need to know people ( your client, your boss and your staff) and communicate well with them. 2. you need to know the product which is your client and client deliverable 3. You need to know the process which means you know how to prepare, review and train others. 4. Also need to fit into your company culture - work hard but more importantly need to work smart 5. Always work for a leader of your firm not a follower

如果在大的accounting firm,做不做得到manager跟这个天花板是没有关系的
所以更没什么差别了,换个title而已,生活并没有任何变化。

我是楼主。不是big 4。之前就是一直没当上manager才跳了槽,结果发现来这个公司也一样。可能真的我能力比较差吧,现在就是觉得自己很失败

非常同意,我虽然不是做会计类的,但同组的美国人有些真是蠢到爆炸,又蠢又懒,同一件事情可以教一年都记不住,我觉得如果我做这帮人的manager我迟早被气到爆血管。。。。

其实我觉得在美国有一个很奇怪的现象, 如果不是犯特别大的错误的话都不会炒人

而且我觉得这边的老外manager真的特别特别有耐心,同样的错误可以一次次耐心地跟他们说,有时候开会老美总问那些让人翻白眼的智障问题。。。
我觉得老美普遍特色就是私下工作能偷懒就偷懒,一到开会就特别认真积极问问题搞得自己很勤快似的
银行里VP就是associate level上面一级,应该和Manager差不多,但是VP range比事务所的manager大,就是有人做很高,还是VP,没有earn到 ED的头衔..

天花板哪里都有。回国的manager生活水平估计还不如这里的senior.何况就算有天花板accounting十年也应该是manager了
责任和薪水成正比难道不是常识么......(当然责任不是说老黄牛只会干活不会表现那种)

senior 就是Manager的bit&h啊,又要管下面又要帮manager做事,还有自己的一堆工作。累死。senior的billable goal是最高的。
其实你很成功了,如果你多换几家公司,你会发现你自己很优秀
