Gifted and talented programs are in high demand, largely because they help propel students into selective middle and high schools, effectively putting children on a parallel track from their general education peers. Many parents, including Black and Latino parents, have sought out gifted classes as an alternative to the city’s struggling district schools, and have come to rely on them as a way to set their children up for future success.
In a city in which it is all about identity politics, Asian-Americans need to flex their muscle. Mayor de Blasio's school policies are designed to hurt Asian-American children just to benefit African-American and Latino children, and he makes no excuses for that. Just because Asian-Americans value education and push their children very hard to excel.
Asian-Americans need to form new political alliances and push hard to protect their interests. Otherwise, other identity groups will push them around, deny a quality education to their children and treat them like unwanted children in their own city.

Should the NBA and NFL institute a height and weight restriction so certain ethnic groups of smaller stature are able to compete?
If an ethnic group dominates in any specific field so be it. Let talent and hard work determine who gets in.
Lowering the standards will dilute the product in any field.
