William Tong grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut.[1] His father, Ady, left China for Hong Kong during the Chinese Civil War, and his mother, Nancy, immigrated to the U.S. from Taiwan in the 1960s.[2][3]
Tong graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He received an undergraduate degree in classics with honors from Brown University in 1995. He earned a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2000.[4][5]

他未来至少有三条很好的上升的通道。
1.在司法系统里。律师--》检察官--》法官--》上级法院法官。
由于司法系统的行规，这条道受民意的影响会很小。
2.律师--》检察官--》开律师行赚大钱。这也与民意没太大的关系。
3.律师--》检察官--》转做行政官。因为行政官需要政绩，
这会减小形象上的负面分。
联邦参议员这种，个人形象及嘴皮子比较重要，他的民意减分多。不合适。
他就像现在这样，不上升也行。已经很好了。
