House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said congressional leaders will reconvene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to continue discussing Covid-19 relief and a crucial government spending package.
McCarthy met with Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The group has been trying to finalize coronavirus aid to attach to the spending bills before funding for federal agencies runs out Friday at midnight.
McConnell has called on Democrats to move forward with a bill that leaves out the two most controvesial provisions: aid for state and local governments and a Covid-19 related liability shield.
