On one hand, even with the additional $85 billion added by House leaders to help older people pay for their insurance premiums, many moderates feel the age-based tax credits in the bill replacing those in the Affordable Care Act are too small, particularly for people in their 50s and early 60s. The CBO estimated that under the original version of the House bill, premiums for a 64 year-old with an income of $26,000 a year could rise from $1,700 currently to more than $14,000.
【 在 theboxer (boxer) 的大作中提到: 】 The history of insurance consisted of the development of the modern business of insurance against risks, especially regarding cargo, property, death, : automobile accidents, and medical treatment. The industry helps to eliminate risks (as when fire insurance companies demand the implementation of safe practices and the installation of hydrants ), spreads risks from the individual to the larger community, and provides an important source of long-term finance for both the public and private sectors. The insurance industry is generally profitable and provides attractive employment opportunities for white collar workers. 保险的本意就是要spreads risks from the individual to the larger community。 ...................
”Allow insurers to price policies based on health status in some cases. The current law does not and the original GOP bill would not allow insurers to set premiums based on health status. But the amendment would allow it for those who do not maintain continuous coverage, defined as a lapse of 63 days or more over the previous 12 months. Such policyholders could be charged higher premiums for pre-existing conditions for one year. After that, provided there wasn’t another 63-day gap, the policyholder would get a new, less expensive premium that was not based on health status. This change would begin in 2019, or 2018 for those enrolling during special enrollment periods.“
currently to more than $14,000.
