手下博后在家工作几个月后突然憋出个想法，想申请个K试试，看了一圈，好像好多种K的样子，貌似K99/R00最不挑人。我从没写过K，不是很了解这个机制，是不是基本上和R一样，只要加上博后自己想学的东西，造出一个新的mentoring committee，再加上个R21似的小项目就可以了呢？这种award好不好得？谢谢！

K99 要求博后两年内必须独立，而且钱是他的不是你的。博后的背景要强，review之前最好有一作或共同一作文章接收，不然基本没戏。而且K99并不容易拿，每年每个
instittute最多只有十几个人不到二十（三个cycles加一块儿）可能NCI，NIGMS多一些，但是竞争更激烈。小的institute都是个位数，比如NEI
新的想法得有preliminary data才行。K99更像一个短版的R01

支持信里要写明这个project他可以带走，你将来不做。不需要些5年的支持，因为如果拿到了，人家两年就走了。sponsor letter里面重点写这个博后多么牛，将来能在美国独立，你会全力支持他独立，你给他设计的training plan，和你之前的training
record
如果你以前的postdoc没有在美国独立的，最好找个年纪比较大，training record好的 PI作他的co-mentor

是呀，就是想帮他独立，找到教职才考虑的这个，而且这个没有绿卡也可以申请，他也有个项目想去做。我当年看过K01/07什么的，觉得每年的钱发完工资后不够做研究才转的R01，现在觉得这个博后直接做R01的申请可能有短板，所以做K99还是qualify的。我倒是push他出了一个一作的文章，还有几个在写，看情况把，如果不成还可以申请几次，大不了到时候改成R系列的就好了。

是不是mentor只能两个到三个呢？现在博后100%的工资是我在付，按道理也应该我是
mentor之一吧，但是又担心reviewer觉得我资历太轻，只要泰斗们做mentor被喧宾夺主了怎么办? 还是只要我在雇佣这个博后就得做mentor？谢谢!

Mentor Co-mentor consultant 一共可以有好几个。
Plans and Statements of Mentor and Co-mentor(s)一共最多六页。我primary
mentor写了两页，comentor 1 两页，comentor 2一页， comentor3 一页。因为要细节，每页已经非常满。再多人做comentor也写不下了。
有用的其他人可以放在consultant或者collaborator里， Letters of Support from
Collaborators, Contributors, and Consultants可以有最多六页。
Reviewers会评价Mentors的资历，尤其是primary mentor是否曾经mentor K awardees,有多少mentees最终在学术界发光发热。

身边有人拿到K，原博后老板不是mentor团的，给写了推荐信。
她组了新的mentor团队，但跟新团队的primary mentor是一年多前开始合作的。
