There were similar incidents reported but since there are no major casualties involved Toyota just ignored it. The Lexus crash is too high-profile this time. Toyota has to do sth to answer to the complaints
it is not about the floor mat. There are some fatal errors in the programming of their CPU chip that controlr the accerlation, or sth like that.
floor mat is just an excuse. If it is the floor mat, they can just send you a new one and let you replace it. There is no need to ask you drive the car back to the dealership and let them work on it for a whole day. They will replace sth in your car.....not just the floor mat, but the chip.

The affected vehicles include: 2007-2010 Camry, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2004-2009 Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES 350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 and IS350.
Luckily the camry i used to drive is from 2003. Oh well...i don't have it anymore.

The Lexus crash in SD was caused by the same problem. 4 people in car died. They crashed with a speed of 120 miles.
The 911 call is on youtube. It is very sad. You can almost hear people were screaming when they crashed at the intersaction. Then total silence.

上周的一幕让我惊厥到现在,连车都不敢碰了!
可我上班还不得不开车,心里阴影太大了,大家开导开导我吧!
我平时上班要开一段高速,车比较多,进高速时有时要yeild.
上周5早上进高速时正准备yeild, 可是车子发动机突然间象发了疯似的咆哮起来,
转速直至6k, 疯狂加速, 把高速上那个pickup硬是挤到了另一条lane,那个司机疯狂狂
的嘀我.
可是我管不了那么多了,因为我怎么踩刹车都不管用,车就这么一直加速.
(我发誓我肯定没踩错油门, 因为中间有一段时间我什么都没踩,车子还是在加速)
限速是65, 可是车子速度很快就过了65,而且不断加速, 就3条lane,车还多,
我只好猛嘀前面的车让他们给我让路以免追尾.
我一点都不知道到底加速了多长时间, 反正我感觉自己的心跳停了,
反正最后我车子的速度超过了100mph, 为了生存,我只好猛按喇叭,猛打方向盘.
幸运的是大部分人都躲开了, 可是前面凸现一个情景就是中间lane的18轮正在超右lane
的18轮. 左lane被一个轮子巨大的pickup占了.
我必须要选择一个撞, 于是我选了中间那条lane, 因为我怕钻到那个pickup的大轮子下
面, 还因为我看到那个18轮后面好像有个板子, 感觉撞他的结果要好一点.
在我准备必须要撞车这个事实的时候,刹车奇迹班的有反应了,发动机也不叫了.
我把刹车踩到底,可是刹车还是一顿一顿的,虽然速度在下降,可是离18轮越来越近了.
最幸运的是我在最后撞到18轮后面那个栏杆时,速度和他差不多了,非常轻微的接触了一
下那个栏杆上挂着的铁链,以至于18轮的司机都没察觉,扬长而去.
接下来好多都不记得了,反正我听到了好多嘀声,最后还把车开到了一个修车铺.车铺的
人说是什么电子控制的油门的问题, 还说听过好几个类似的故障, 说让我们联系dealer
, 还说他们可以500块修好前面的hood. 可我却不敢碰这个车了, 于是联系了T家的
dealer让他们过来拖过去, 又让ld过来接我.
回来讲给邻居听, 还笑我说, 就不应该买什么6缸的xle, 买个4缸的le撑死也加速不到
100mph, 把我气死了.
想了两天, 整理出这么多,可整个过程却不到一分钟,弄这两天昏昏沉沉的,什么都不想
干, 就想蒙着被子永远睡下去. 可是一想到上班还要开车, 我就觉得想吐了.
上网看了看, unintended acceleration toyota, 好像案例很多, 一想到ld也开T家的
车, 我的头就更大了.
大家开导开导我吧, 没装死, 却被吓死了.
