cancel local property tax --> local expenses rely on federal funding --> strong central federal government. is that what you really want? in my eyes, it's just a way to strip the state off their autonomy, totally opposite to how US is set up. To improve local public education, one simple way is to require accountability on the teachers, and weaken the teacher union's power. Just like any industry, where the money comes doesn't guarantee the results. incentives and accountability are the keys.

现在用公共的税去贴补有钱人送孩子去私校的政策，对目前的公共教育是雪上加霜！ 有钱人会过来argue，我们孩子不上公校，凭什么收我地税的钱。我想说，不上是你个人的选择，不是不让上。而且房子买在好学区，benefit并不仅仅是“免费”上公校吧。好学区，意味着更高的安全性，更高的增值。
那为什么其它国家可以不收房产税（比如中国）或者收很少的房产税（比如澳洲，爱尔兰），照样可以有免费的基础教育，甚至是免费或者很便宜的高等教育？美国没房产税就不行？全世界像美国这样每年都收很多的房产税的就没几个，连隔壁的加拿大都低很多。 所谓的k-12必须由房产税支持就是个借口。只要军费肯降下来，什么福利的钱都有了。
穷人租房不买房啊，买房的都是中产和资产阶级。大资本家人数少，而且不在乎那点地税，最后坑的还是广大中产。应该不收地产税，只收个人所得税和公司税，当然我这也是白日做梦，呵呵
你让他们降军费啊，或者像中国一样主要搜刮企业税收啊，可能吗？那可是金主老爷们的核心利益 到最后倒霉的都是中产和底层普通人
但理智上，得了吧这不可能实现。有些county没了地产税直接就躺了。如果把税转移到消费税等上，又是剥削穷人去了。没必要，那样弄得有些人生活有困难，会走歪路的。治安不好对中产没啥好处。
所以说啊，都是借口。即使有房产税，这些既得利益者一样会用各种理由加税。我们老百姓能做的就是对新的加税提案一个都不要同意，已有的税种能取消一个是一个。

必须同时限制个人和公司拥有的房产数量
相比医疗，地税可以忽略不计，至少还有好校区，警察，消防，公园，道路，trail，高尔夫球场，夜不闭户。
取消了地税，读书上私校也行，安全家里多放几把枪，门窗关紧。
中国没有房产税，为啥也能负担的起公立学校？而且中国人还多。
看看别的没有property tax的国家，一样有免费教育和警察服务吧。我觉得要取消自住房的property tax，调高非自住房的来补贴。

这个税收给学校本身就是伪命题，每个学区都有政府拨款联邦预算拨款，税收年年听校委员会吵，吵来吵去钱都是被各种名目瓜分，工资餐饮和背后的资本集团工会等等各种，哪有学校什么事。早停早好
