AI 概览 Before the 9/11 attacks, visiting the White House was significantly easier. In the past, it was possible for the public to walk through the White House during open houses and even partake in events with refreshments. After 9/11, security measures were drastically increased, requiring tours to be booked well in advance through congressional offices. Here's a more detailed look: Open Houses and Free-Flowing Booze: Historically, the White House had open houses where people could freely walk through and enjoy refreshments, even if they were not invited guests. Simple Ticket System: Prior to 9/11, a simple ticket system was in place, where visitors could obtain tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. Increased Security Measures: Following the attacks, the White House tour process changed dramatically. Tours now require advanced booking through congressional offices, with requests needing to be submitted at least three weeks in advance and potentially up to six months ahead. Congressional Approval: Anyone wanting a White House tour must now request it through their congressional representative, who then forwards the names to the White House for approval. Limited Availability: Due to the increased security measures, White House tours are now highly sought after and have limited availability.
