对不了解学校 funding 的说明一下， 1. 美国私立大学没有政府直接拨款 funding，大部分 government funding 是 individual faculty or group 根据自己的研究课题申请的。除了那些 center grants，大部分 research grant 跟着 faculty 走，如果 faculty 换学校，grant 也跟着到另一个学校。 2. Grant application 竞争非常激烈的，不同行业有些区别，health 方面的 funding rate 大概 10%。也就是平均写 10个 application 才能拿到一个。 3. funding 给了就有 contract binding 了，政府随意取消就是违反 contract。 4. 且不说那些游行本身是非对错，游行的人和靠 research grant 做研究的人可能根本不相关。这届政府就是以对反犹行为处理不力作为借口打击美国高等教育和科研！ 正如哥大一夜之间被取消 400 million 的时候一个 doctor 说的： “We’re actually quite busy.
