我娃不是应届生,知道的报大学的孩子都是乐队认识的,乐队成员录取都不错。不过本来乐队去年报大学的录取就挺好。目前我没看出来什么亚裔弱势,乐队里乌泱泱的亚裔娃。
肯定有影响。我们很多年前申请不也是排名好的拿得到排名落后几十的反而拿不到,ao见多了会评估你来不来的概率

你说的这个女孩,很容易查出来是在他爸爸学校里面挂名的文章,而且文章都来自同一个单位的。 主楼里面的男孩,去了无数个不同的机构做Intern 和research, 很大概率是自己努力申请到的机会。
也许人家课外搞了科研,发了文章,只是学校保密了,我们这里很多都这样,搞了一堆事,学校默默无闻,直到录了大藤,才出名,但具体干了什么一般人也不清楚。
应该是被YP了,这年头很常见。申请大学还是要选fit的,你想拿别人保底也得看别人乐意不乐意

问题是这个娃明显表示了他想做research啊。 北卡这种红州限制招中国学生。如果录取过程不能看国籍种族,单纯从名字上看不出是ABC还是中国人,保险起见就当中国人处理吧。
推翻AA那个高院案例的辩护过程律师说过要用低收入取代种族性别参照。目前新的政治正确是农村低收入一代大学生。
都是美国本土出生的孩子,就读个本科,哪里至于有什么敏感专业的问题?离clearance差十万八千里呢。
就算进到工作,要接触高clearance的工程工作,美国本土出生的孩子也一样能做。
本科…faculty都有华人呢… 再说Umich之类的就是选工程学院,不是选专业。进去再选专业。

如果过于夸张或者把research写得过于晦涩,都不是好的application .
就是牛,也得写好common app和essay, 也要人看到一个鲜活可爱又有passion的孩子。
正常学习体系是从宽到窄,高中是打基础,刚进大学不分专业,还是打基础,他从一个很窄的领域一直钻进去,不太符合一般学习规律
还有uva, 就是本州内没有好私校就自我膨胀了

说实话的,我review的时候也觉得怪,高一高二的孩子做计算流体力学的研究,写paper,有点用力过猛了。我是不大信的。

请教top 公校中那些对外州比较友好?UC? UT? UF?UW?
据说UIUC比较友好,比密西根也便宜一点。但UIUC CS不容易,录取率只有7%。
这个印度男孩肯定有不为人知的神乎其神的EC。我们学校早录USC的小印就是那一卦的。
没那么玄,我家老大前2年申请,除了 GIT 没申请,另外几个作为外州州大全申请了全拿下offer当然最后都没去, 这些都是州大招生名额很多,进去没那么难,比进藤进T5容易多了
他这个Independent用的有点意有所指 一方面 我猜他是想跟那些靠connection 或者父母 发文章做科研的人区别开来 另一方面 科研本身还是认同团队观念的 他说他靠自己 这本身也不现实啊 不知道AO读下来觉得这种表达是褒是贬了

只能说某个孩子会被录取的可能性比较高,但没录取也很正常。除了成绩硬指标,孩子的essay, 活动列表,award list, 推荐信,同校同地区的其他申请者的资质,大学怎么看这个孩子是否fit学校。太多因素。
所以只能说申请者尽力了,什么样的录取结果难以预测,是啥都能平常心接受,最后去被录取的里面自己喜欢的那个就是了。
