I am a huge fan of R.F. Kuang. My favorite is Babel. Highly recommended. Background is opium war but it''s a fantasy. Her ability to incorporate all sorts of different languages into the construct of the story is amazing! I came across the book by total accident while browsing at a local library. Intrigued by the sleeve introduction, and just assumed Kuang was some seasoned Asian male writer, Then one day flipped to the end sleeve, and saw she was only 27 when she wrote Babel. I also made quite some connections socially since several really smart folks at work have read her book and become her fans. She is such a genius at such a young age. Also finished Yellow Face in 2 days, dramatically different style than Babel.
今天一个同事在讨论她新写的yellow face极为推崇，还告诉我里面好多关于中国人风俗的描写。这孩子才20几岁啊。怎么记得家长来这里给大家推荐过她的第一本fantasybook，一转眼她已经写了这么多书了
