An Atlas Air Boeing 747 burst into flames mid-air last week on its way from Miami International Airport to Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico, which drew more questions about the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) push for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Over the weekend, a Delta Boeing 757 lost a wheel while it was preparing to take off at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and while there’s nothing to suggest that DEI initiatives have anything to do with the incident, stories of airline malfunctions are reaching ridiculous levels. As noted in the tweet below, had the wheel fallen off a few seconds later as the fully-fueled plane was reaching full speed just before liftoff the results could have been catastrophic.
Boeing’s 737 factory will have what the company calls a “quality stand down” at its Renton, Washington facility Thursday, the company announced Tuesday. “During the session, production, delivery and support teams will pause for a day so employees can take part in working sessions focused on quality.
