In 2023, you are no longer required to pay a federal tax penalty for remaining uninsured. However, that may not apply to you if you live in a specific state. For those in California, you are still required to have health insurance and could be subject to a fee should you remain uninsured.
How long do you have to sign up for COBRA? COBRA beneficiaries have 60 days to decide whether they want COBRA coverage. If you enroll in COBRA before the 60 days are up, your coverage is then retroactive, as long as you pay the retroactive premiums. This means that if you incur medical bills during your election period, you can retroactively — and legally — elect COBRA and have those bills covered.
(California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Vermont)和 DC 必须有保险,没查到 2023年怎样 As of 2022, only five states (California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Vermont) and the District of Columbia require all eligible residents to declare annual proof of health insurance coverage on state taxes.
