The exploratorium is fun, but it's really more of a kids place, and honestly, there are other immersive science museums in other places. If you're in San Francisco I think you should do the things that are only here. Ride the cable cars, walk across the Golden gate bridge, have burritos, maybe experience the glory that is the Saturday Farmers market at the ferry building, obviously, there are farmers' markets in lots of towns but this one's particularly glorious if you don't have a lot of experience with the beautiful bounty of California produce. Now if you have a real interest in any of these things, some are better than others, visiting the Pompanito is cool if you are a maritime nut, the California historical society is cool if you have a special interest in California history. What do you like to do? There is so much to do here that they're probably something that would really suit your interests. By the way, fisherman's Wharf is not that much fun really, but I do like to go down there briefly for three things, the must see mechanic collection of old antique arcade machines, the cable car ride, Irish coffee at the Buena Vista.
