回复 104楼smileqq的帖子 我发给这几个人的信(每个人单独发,改一下开头的名字) Dear Maureen, Hope you are doing well! I am writing to express my deep concerns about the recent remarks by Cheryl James-Ward. She said Asians are doing well academically because we are wealthy. This is the most ridiculous claim I’ve heard about Asian American’s success. Asian Americans are doing well in school because they work hard, because education is an unequivocal priority in many Asian cultures, because their parents manage to carve out time to help kids study no matter how busy they are, because even if they live on a small budget, they are generous when it comes to kids’ education expenses. I know this, because I have many Asian friends that are not wealthy, but they work extra hard and of course they got better grades at school. It’s the efforts that make them do great at school, not wealth. Even a kid will understand this, but Dr. Cheryl does not. Her groundless and irresponsible comments can negatively impact many hard working Asian students, making others bias against them, adding barriers to block their education pursuit. I strongly question the qualification of Dr. Cheryl James-Ward in her position. As a educator, her job is to treat people fairly, but she clearly has something against Asians. Her job is to promote the people and cultures that put education as a priority, but she denigrated them instead. With that, I strongly urge her to quit her job now. She is welcome to reapply for this important position, once she learns how to be a qualified educator. Thank you. Best, A concerned resident
刚刚一个board trustee Michael回信了, 感觉还比较诚恳。 Dear Concerned Resident, Thank you for your email and for caring about all students in our District. My apologies for not replying to you sooner. I have received so many emails, that it is difficult to keep up, but this does indicate to me how much our community has been affected by the Superintendent’s recent remarks. I was shocked by her comments during DEI Training, of all places. I did not ask her the question—I asked it of the expert moderators. Nevertheless, Dr Ward jumped in to answer. I condemn her remarks with the strongest possible language. I do not believe this is what our District stands for and I will be following up on this situation with utmost urgency. We will be scheduling a board meeting where an agenda item will be a discussion of Dr. Ward’s remarks. I will let you know the details as soon as they are finalized. Thank you for reaching out to me. This issue is extremely important. Best regards, Michael Allman

Empirical evidence on Asian student performance and economic status
Dr. Cheryl James-Ward and Board of Trustee,
As an Asian, I am deeply concerned about the recent remark by Dr. Cheryl James-Ward. Just to provide counter evidence on what she says about Asians doing well academically because we are wealthy:
Research shows that Academic achievement for low-income and not low-income are the least disparate among Asian students: 75% vs 72% for math and 68% vs 63% for ELA. According to the statistics, Asian students are getting it done DESPITE economic hardship. The source of the research is at the end of the email.
Therefore, such a remark is neither true nor fair to Asians. It also incites more hatred toward Asians, contributing to the increasing violence toward Asian people in California.
I also have to question whether Dr. Cheryl James-Ward fits her important educational job position, both for her lack of consideration on the influence of her remarks (or lack of compassion) on a frequently attacked (physically or verbally) minority and lack of critical thinking or ability/motivation of basing her perceptions on evidence.

亚裔是they?我们为什么不被当成社区的一份子?这个是很有效的论点。
