Don’t ask whether you are qualified. Tell her/him why you are qualified, if she/him doesn’t agree with you, ask how (what you need to do) to get qualified for next cycle.

为啥不直接问。要是我,会告诉老板,我想升职,问怎样可以升职,问老板,他觉得我还差什么。老板下一年如果不给升职,咋也要给我个理由。

直接把自己的工作成绩能力摆在桌面要求升职。
不用问需要做什么才能升职。直接说你已经qualify, 现在就该升职了。
如果问哪里需要改进,你永远有需要改进的地方。就说你communication需要提高,英语需要改进. 可能你到退休年龄了,这两条还不达标。

跟他说下次你想要升职而且已经准备好了。如果他觉得你哪里有什么不足的,那请他直接告诉你,这样到时候不会有surprise. that's exactly what I told my partner when I wanna be promoted. "I would like to be promoted next year and I believe I am ready. If there is anything you think I need to improve, please let me know so there won't be any surprise at the end." lol 不过我们行业有所谓的promotion year,所以基本上如果没被promote的人就自然而然的跳槽走了
