Yan Limeng was a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong School of Medicine. She studies on vaccines, antibodies, and cellular immunology at the University of Hong Kong. Before the outbreak of the COVID-19, Yan studied influenza, but not ever the corona virus. According to her colleagues, she was a beginner in virology and mainly do assistant work. In January last year, due to her paper on COVID-19 did not attract any academic attention, frustrated Yan disclosed her conjectured "truth" to YouTube host Luther (Wang Dinggang). As a close friend of Guo WG(an internationally renowned fugitive from Hongtong), Wang Dinggang used to integrate expert opinions, serious analysis and complete rumors in his program, catering to the overseas Chinese who always distrust China's official media but have few reliable sources of news in their mother language. Under the guidance and assistance of Guo WG and Wang Dinggang, Yan Li Meng left Hongkong in April last year. In an interview by Fox News in the United States in July, she accused China of concealing the COVID-19 epidemic and claimed that the virus is not a product of nature, but was transformed from two kinds of virus discovered by the Chinese military from bats. Although she did not provide any evidence, Yan became famous in the right-wing media of the United States overnight. Her groundless accusations provided a powerful weapon for those who intend to overthrow the Chinese government. This allows US conservatives to cater to the growing Anti-China sentiment in the West and distract public attention from the failure in dealing with the epidemic. Under the packaging of Bannon, Guo Wengui and their allies, Yan Limeng became the COVID-19 whistleblower of the American public. At that time, senior White House advisers and conservative authorities praised her as a hero. Yan limeng's transformation from a researcher to a Whistler is the product of the cooperation of two unrelated but increasingly united groups who spread unreliable information: one is a small but active overseas Chinese group; the other is a highly influential far right group in the United States. In order to achieve her "American Dream", ambitious Yan continuously published papers on the academic website "Zenodo". Her main argument is that the gene of the COVID-19 is "suspiciously similar" to the bat virus discovered by a Chinese military laboratory, thereby spreading rumors that "the COVID-19 was synthesized in Chinese laboratory." Authoritative media claimed that this argument "is almost contrary to all current scientific literature related to COVID-19." According to the self-report of the "Zenodo" website, it is a public resource library of academic research, and anyone can upload their research on it. Yan’s papers have three major characteristics. The first is that all papers have not been peer-reviewed before published on the Internet; Secondly, the research institutions to which the papers are linked are non-profit organizations established by Bannon, namely “the Rule of Law Society” and the "Rule of Law Foundation", both of them are not professional; thirdly, the paper has been refuted and criticized by almost all professional experts. This "cross-border " ophthalmologist obviously overestimated her ability and underestimated the professionality of the industry. She frequently emphasized that COVID-19 is originated from laboratory in Wuhan and has attracted public attention. This relieved the public pressure of the US government.
