回复 1楼pwwp的帖子 我在这封给一个美国朋友的email里，写了这首作品的创作过程。 Texas is my first stop when I first came to the state in XXX, I just love and miss it. That is why I wrote this lyric. Maybe it is for a country music song which I started listening and fell in love there too. I would not like to call it a poem. I still prefer keep the simple words, which would best fit a country music lyric. In this piece, all places or scenes I mentioned are those deeply ironed in my memory. Back then when I felt lonely, especially on weekends, I drove my very old car (really old one, cost me 800 bucks, a pretty big number then for me, haha) to countryside. The farms, bluebonnets, hay rolls all left deep impression on my memory. I just loved it. For San Antonio night walk, It happened right after I arrived in Texas, one or two month. Some guys in my group walked there together with me, all Americans but me. I really liked the river and bars, the music, and the decoration lights along. A young lady from our group looped her arm through mine so naturally while chatting. And everyone felt no big deal and still talked about which bar we should go. But for me, that was something never happened to me. I just arrived in USA, maybe still a bit earthy? haha. Anyway, that impressed me a lot then. For El Paso sunset, that is what I saw out of a greyhound bus window on my way to Mexico to renew my visa. I was planning to use the renewed visa to go back to China to get married with my then girlfriend and then back to US together. It was possible, though, that I might not get the visa approval and maybe I could be refused to re-entry to the US. Stuck in Mexico by myself? A bit nervous. And getting married then still put some pressures on me. I doubted that I was ready but my girlfriend was very ready. That complicated feeling, the sunset......all sealed in my memory. By the way, I got the visa, but the relationship did not work out. My then girlfriend and I broke up right before my planned trip to China. Long distance relationship, you know. For quite some time, I felt quite down wondering if my life was doomed to be miserable like this. Later I met S, very soon I realized that I was wrong, my life could just go way worse....haha. kidding. For the cowgirls part, one Saturday night when I walked back from campus to my apartment, a pickup truck stopped near me for a red light and one of the few girls sitting/standing on the pickup bed jokingly asked me: "hi! you want to party with us tonight?" Then all girls laughed. Some of them wore white shirts and blue jeans, one or two even wore cowboy hats. Looks really cool and hot. But I pretended I did not hear that and kept walking. The pickup then drove away, yet I still could hear the laughing. All based upon true stories, I would say. I just want to share with you about the story behind as more as possible. Actually you are the first one to know all these. haha. Here also are the links for your reference too, it is about night river walk, bluebonnets and the bats.

And on those drives, I think: it does not belong to me, nor do I belong to it, but we have a perfect harmony within our perfect distance.

这段路以前从凤凰城开车去赌城也走过，真是难忘。只有起伏，没有弯曲。笔直的一条大道通天。阳光灿烂，天空湛蓝。路两侧远处是红色的石头山。近处是高大的古老仙人掌林。傍晚走，满天彩霞，更是美得让人沉醉。

elpaso过桥的墨西哥那边，留学生去那里换签证可以当天来回

我是好多年了，记不清了，但当时签证的担心，远超过对危险的感受。
就记得，街上，有些尘土，很多很多的人站着，很多很多双好奇的眼睛看着我。。。

像国内的大县城，新的水泥楼，街上尘土飞扬，出租车里有苍蝇。我第一次长途开车，也是去那里换签证。四个人轮流开，一天开到elpaso，累的让learner permit都上阵开了。新墨西哥赤日炎炎的荒原上笔直看不到头的大路上只有我们。忽而，一叼香烟的墨镜老太太开着巨大蹭亮的林肯还不是别克，超速而过，，，，逐渐变成一个无声的越来越小的，被水汽扭曲飘摇的点，消失了，，，，又忽而，一辆警车，呼啸而过，逐渐变成一个无声的越来越小的，被水汽扭曲飘摇的点，在老太太消失的方向也消失了，，，，
你的诗勾起我刚到美国那几年的很多回忆，谢谢。
像国内的大县城
就是这样的感受，一模一样。
这一首吧，没有感情没有经历，还是真写不出来。

是的，那么多年过去了，那些画面在我记忆里还那么具体。。。而且充满着情感。

我们说的是九十年代的国内大县城，现在估计也有好多玻璃幕墙的高楼了，大县城和华雷斯，both
好多地方啊。。。你读啊！
我还有一个印象就是那里大银行里女职员衣着摩登，光鲜亮丽，和外面街道上的行人的穿着差别非常大。
然后就是过边境的时候，去墨西哥那边的之宽松随便，嘻嘻哈哈的就过去了，来美国的盘查的之严格，荷枪实弹。
真感觉到了美国人enjoy的自由。
你来自云南元谋， 我来自北京周口， 牵着你毛茸茸的小手， 轻轻地咬上一小口， 啊！是爱情让我们直立行走。
你们越说我越好奇😯

关键就是感受到情感。
那种可以共鸣，可以亲近，可以具体，更似乎可以触摸到的情感。。。

我对去圣安东尼的一段高速，特别记忆深刻，路两边好多的树，但视野却一点阻碍，非常开阔，天空也非常的蓝，尤其是路是高低起伏的，有时开在凹处，往前面开去，路的尽头在半空中，真的是像向开往paradise。记忆非常深刻～～～如此起伏着，好美好美，美的有些忧伤，如同我当时的心情。

我们是傍晚去的，感觉人很多，但并不喧闹。人们说话的声音，音乐声，河水的声音，和一家家装饰灯的流连交错在一起，就是那么一个短暂的夜晚，却记忆那么深。

和尚开荤以后，最难忘记的就是那第一次，不是，第一块肉。
很奇怪，我昨天还说了，我在Texas，从来没觉得夏天有多热，有多难以忍受（干热干热的，还好）。我当时甚至连防晒霜都不用。但不少中国女同学夏天打伞出门，也是真的。

说来奇怪，当年身边一批男同学的恋爱没几年大都无疾而终了，全是long distance的。
在美国国内的long distance, 中美之间的long distance, 中欧之间的long distance，我台湾的roomate和他在台湾的女朋友，，，，，全都分了。
每个男人都消沉失落了很久。。。
有些男同学忙着恋爱、结婚，团聚，有些男同学手足无措，不知道前程。

戴爱莲的这位初恋爱人是英国雕塑家威利·苏考普。当年风华正茂的戴爱莲在英国时和他相遇，也是很短的一段时间（大概也就几个星期），就彼此深爱上对方，但这个时候苏考普已经订婚，未婚妻是一位银行家的女儿。情非得已，戴远走中国，躲避这段我想是她最珍视、最难以忘怀的爱情。
苏考普晚年丧妻后，戴爱莲终于成了他的身边人，彼此的晚年伴侣。可俩人在英国一起生活了没多久，苏考普就于1995年去世了。同一年，在中国，叶浅予也与世长辞，享年88岁。
11年后，戴爱莲去世，享年90岁。
不长的文章里不多的人，跨越近乎一个世纪。
忍不住就感慨，人一生，最快乐，最幸福，最难以忘怀，最愿意追忆的时光，其实可能就那么几天，几个星期……那么短，有时候衬的一生那么悠长；可又那么难忘，又让一生有了从没有的具体和真实。
闲着无事翻看身边的报纸，《廊桥遗梦》（The Bridges of Madison County）现在改编成话剧正在百老汇上演。重新看报纸上的故事梗概，竟有了从来没有过的感受。
就想女人的一生，老去后，应该有个生前不为任何人所知的小箱子——里面有些情书，泛黄的照片，几本日记，几件有岁月痕迹并见证过自己当年情感的饰物或纪念物。
足够了，不能再放更多了。存折，金条，房产证，股票……这些都太世俗了。当然，理想和惬意的状态是，她一生从来没有为这些世俗的事烦恼过、操心过，这让她有足够的淡然和雍容追求或追忆自己一生精神世界里的唯美情感。

有些老人不是越老越成熟的，不可当真。一生只有几天最幸福，虽然有种悲剧性的凄美，但终究自己还是不要过成那样的好。
我也记得那段高速， 限速好像很高，自由自在的奔向美好未来的感觉，阿拉斯加去Wrangell-St. Elias National Park 那段高速也是那样起起伏伏，路上没有别的车，却完全不同，每一步景色都不一样，惊喜不断，更多的时候在看路边的风景而不是憧憬着目的地
