Nothing is wrong from capitalism perspective. I'm always against minimum wage policy. To make US truly competitive, the min wage has to be abandoned and just let the free market work its way out. A low pay job is better than no job. If there are many people that are willing to take a "low" offer, then that's actually a good thing since the company will be very competitive and will sell its products at a lower price. Eventually, the whole country will well position itself for global competition. When US is doing that, the manufacturer job will return. And the high-tech job will depend on how many talents can be found in the country, or brought in from around the world. But in any case, setting certain salary level is the most stupid thing. Government's job is to ensure laws are in place to protect worker's rights. Pay shall be left between the employer and the employee.
