Ash Stevenson4 hours ago For the 10+ years I lived in nyc and brooklyn i watched countless small manufacturing companies go out of business because china made the products "cheaper". I would watch whole textile and sewing factories be packed on to trucks and shipped overseas or just get scraped. I watched landlords raise rents including mine to push my manufacturing out of the city along with others. So i can understand why no one makes these products anymore. They could not pay the rent, taxes, fines, permits, insurance or even stay on top of workers compensation. I moved my business to Philadelphia in 2017 and im am very glad I did even though I really do miss NYC as there is no place like it. ForsakenServent3 hours ago Can't blame the Chinese. But you can blame the cheapskates who won't pay a decent price. Or blame the landlords for not giving businesses cheaper rent rates. Or blame the 1st nations work force for wanting more wages. Blame games suck! 25 REPLY
Diadem Glow3 hours ago It’s truly sickening what they did, used to get all of my clothes made here, they even sold Crabtree Evelyn to China. Hope they have learned the lesson. 11 REPLY
J R3 hours ago I work as a fashion designer in NYC and I 100% support this comment. Manufacturing in the USA would make that $.07 gown into a $70.00 after labor/ health insurance/ taxes.
