Trump announced his 1:30 p.m. ET press conference on Twitter on Saturday as Vice President Pence led a coronavirus task force meeting in the White House situation room.
WATCH LIVE COVERAGE ON FOX NEWS CHANNEL AND FOXNEWS.COM It’s the second time this week Trump will speak to reporters in a rare White House briefing room press conference, signaling the seriousness the Administration is placing on the coronavirus that has now infected more than 85,000 worldwide and killed 2,900. The closures and quarantines around the world have spooked investors and the stock market took a dramatic tumble this week. Shortly before Trump was to address the cameras, Washington state health officials said one person has died from the new virus; the first person to die from the disease in the United States. As four new cases have popped up in the United States, tensions between Trump and Democrats are bubbling up as well. At a rally in South Carolina Friday night, Trump accused his Democratic critics of "politicizing" the coronavirus outbreak and dismissed the criticism about his handling of the virus as “their new hoax” and insisted “we are totally prepared.” Meanwhile, the House held a bipartisan briefing with health officials Friday morning, leaving Democrats questioning whether Trump has a handle on the response. Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, who led the impeachment fight against President Trump, said Friday he has "profound concerns" about Trump's response to the coronavirus and cast doubt on whether the White House is telling the truth to the American public about the global outbreak. "The president and vice president don’t inspire confidence," Schiff told Fox News as he left a coronavirus briefing at the Capitol Friday morning. "And because the president has made so many false statements about so many things, you can't really rely on the White House." Schiff's comments come after Trump blasted Democrats in a tweetstorm for playing politics with the coronavirus threat. "I have profound concerns about the management of this at the level of the White House," Schiff said, "but there are some good career people who we got the opportunity to talk to today.”
The patient who died: The man who died was a patient at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland. He was admitted with serious respiratory issues and tested positive for the virus. He was in his 50s and had underlying health conditions, according to Dr. Jeff Duchin with Public Health Seattle & King County. The man had no history of travel outside of the U.S. or known contact with anyone who had COVID-19.

回复 46楼artdong的帖子 请问你这个第十条“10) First death linked to no travel and is a community spread.”

There are three new novel coronavirus cases in people who tested presumptive positive in Washington, health officials said during a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention news briefing on Saturday. This includes the first reported death, as well as the first reported case in a US health care worker and the first reported outbreak in a skilled nursing facility, according to Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. Two cases are associated with Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington, said Dr. Jeffrey Duchin, health officer for Seattle and King County, Washington. One case is in a health care worker, a woman in her 40s who is hospitalized in satisfactory condition. She had no relevant history of travel. The other case is a woman in her 70s who was a resident of the center. She is in serious condition in another hospital. The death was not associated with a long-term care facility.
The Washington patient who died from the novel coronavirus was a man in his 50s, Dr. Jeffrey Duchin, health officer for Seattle and King County, Washington, said during a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention news conference on Saturday.
This is the first death linked to the novel coronavirus in the United States.
Duchin said county health officials were made aware of the case on Friday. The patient had underlying health conditions.
“It was a male,” Duchin said. “This case was reported to us yesterday from the Washington State Public Health Laboratories as a presumptive positive, confirmation pending.” President Trump and other health officials speaking at a White House press conference on Saturday said the person who died was a woman.

刚开始华盛顿州州长的official statement 说是个男的,”our hearts go out to his family and friends", 然后川总开会说是女的,然后州长的official statement改成 ”our hearts go out to their family and friends". This is so messed up!

https://www.facebook.com/NBCNews/videos/2675874772468065/

那个南韩回来的,“woman, in her 50s, from King County", 跟今天报道的死者情况一样。
