Crews responding to fires throughout Oregon the past few days were staffed up and ready because of the red flag warning, and officials said at least some of that readiness was thanks to funding lawmakers put aside to beef up fire response.https://t.co/g7IjqSqaO3
In late summer 2022, nearly 100 large wildland fires burned in the U.S. West. On Sept. 10, plumes from two of the fires in Washington and Oregon were especially pronounced, blanketing Puget Sound and wafting out over the Pacific Ocean. https://t.co/Tai74FySxxpic.twitter.com/5oUIpj3l5O
The fires raging along the West coast are immense. The Mosquito Fire consumed 40k acres alone. Fairview Fire consumed 28K acres. Oregon's Fire has grown to 80K acres. These fires will only get worse as we head towards 1.5C. How long before they take out a major conurbation? pic.twitter.com/xqpOODx0q7
