在推特中，马拉拉并未公布亚瑟的身分，英国媒体指出他是巴基斯坦板球总会训练中心的总经理。
2012年马拉拉才15岁时，因为不肯屈服巴基斯坦神学士限制女性接受教育的命令，不畏恐吓坚持上学，在放学回家时，遭神学士枪击头部重伤。马拉拉后来被送到英国治疗，救回一命后与家人搬到伯明翰定居，并于2014年获颁诺贝尔和平奖，成为最年轻的得主。
