美国总统川普近日罕见承认，他在竞选期间声称能在「24小时内结束乌克兰战争」的说法带有讽刺意味，并非字面意义。他强调，真正的意思是他希望迅速解决战争，并相信自己能够成功。
综合外媒报导，川普过去在选举期间，信誓旦旦自己一旦胜选，就会在24小时内终结俄乌战争，不仅在2023年5月参加「CNN市民大会」（CNN Town Hall）中宣称「俄罗斯人和乌克兰人正在死亡，我希望停止这一切，我真的会做到，在24小时内。」
随后，川普去年9月与时任副总统贺锦丽（Kamala Harris）辩论时，也强调他若当选，将在正式就职前就解决战争。他当时声称，「我会与一方谈话，再和另一方对谈，然后让他们坐下来。」川普进一步指出，他和俄罗斯总统普丁「关系良好」，并认为普丁「真的想要」和平，因此他有信心能够推动谈判。
然而，如今川普在1月20日入主白宫已过55天，俄乌战火仍未平息。川普3月14日在接受美国新闻节目「全力以赴」（Full Measure）专访时，被主持人艾特基森（Sharyl Attkisson）问及他过去的竞选承诺是否夸大不实，而川普也首次对此给出回应。
