白宫发言人莉维特（Levitt）证实，美国已正式对中国商品加徵额外50%的关税，使总关税水平达到破纪录的 104%。另有一系列新的贸易限制措施，将于明日（4月9日）生效。
此举与总统川普昨日的威胁一致。他昨日在Truth Social上表示，若中国不在周二或之前撤回上周五所公布的 34%反制关税，美方将于当地周三实施额外50%惩罚性关税，连同已实施的20%关税，即共 104%。川普同时宣布，中美贸易谈判将全面终止，取消与北京方面的所有会谈安排。
中国方面已表明立场，拒绝让步，扬言“战至最后一刻”。中方外交部发言人表示，中国将采取坚决且对等的反制措施，并谴责美方破坏国际贸易秩序，形容华府行为是“经济霸权主义”。
根据白宫最新声明，这次加徵关税涵盖几乎所有中国对美出口商品，包括高科技产品、电动车零件、锂电池、稀土金属、纺织品和玩具等。这是美国历来针对单一贸易夥伴实施的最高总体关税率。
