袭击事件前约一个月，枪手搜寻了与川普、拜登有关的话题，包括民主党和共和党全国代表大会的日期。

瑞伊在国会作证时表示，FBI总计起出3个“相对粗糙”的设备：两个从库克斯的车上起出，一个从他的住处找到。
FBI提供的第4张照片，是大楼屋顶旁一个空调装置的图像，官员表示，库克斯爬上空调后再进入大楼屋顶。但FBI说，这张照片并不是证据照片，而是在事件后的几天内，调查人员到现场拍摄的。
