今天下午，中国外交部例行记者会上，各国媒体轮番询问“气球事件”。
澎湃新闻报导，有记者提问，发言人能否介绍外交部副部长谢锋与美方交涉“侦查气球”的情况？对于美方击落“侦查气球”，中方称“保留作出进一步必要反应的权利”，中方计画做出何种回应？
毛宁回应表示，关于谢峰副部长交涉的情况，中方已经发佈了消息可以查阅。“我想强调的是，美方不顾中方的反复说明，执意动用武力，明显反应过度，中方坚决反对”。
她说，“美方不要没完没了，升级扩大，中方将视事态的发展作出必要的反应”。
毛宁强调，这次事件完全是不可抗力导致的意外。美国国防部自己也声明，这个气球或者说这个飞艇不会对地面人员构成军事和人身威胁。
她说，美方不顾中方的反覆说明，执意动用武力，明显反应过度，中方坚决反对。对于这种偶发意外事件，双方特别是美方应当以冷静、专业、非武力的方式妥善处理。
毛宁重申，这艘无人飞艇是民用性质，用于气象等科研目的，受西风带影响，且自身控制能力有限，该飞艇严重偏离了预定航线，这完全是一次不可抗力导致的偶发意外事件。
毛宁表示，中国是负责任的国家，我们一贯是严格遵守国际法，尊重别国国家主权和领土完整的。历史证明，经常践踏国际法，侵犯别国主权和领土完整的是美国。“我们已经表明这完全是一次不可抗力导致的偶发意外事件，美方还刻意渲染炒作，甚至武力袭击，这是不可接受的，不负责任的行为”。
