当地时间8月29日,发布在国际顶级学术期刊《自然》杂志的子刊《自然-气候变化》(Nature Climate Change)上的一份研究报告显示,格陵兰岛不断融化的冰层将最终使全球海平面上升至少27厘米,极端状况下甚至达到78厘米。这一结论大大超出了之前的预测。
据美联社8月29日报道,这份研究的预测之所以远高于先前,是因为一种叫做“僵尸冰”的东西。据这项研究的作者之一、丹麦和格陵兰地质调查局(GEUS)冰川学家威廉·科尔根(William Colgan)介绍,“僵尸冰”虽然依旧附着于较厚的冰层上,但由于其母冰川接收的降雪更少,不再能够补充“僵尸冰”,得不到补充的“僵尸冰”将不可避免地融化,并抬高海平面。
“这是死冰,将会融化并从冰盖上消失。”科尔根在接受采访时说,不管人类现在采取何种气候方案,这些冰终将归于大海。
