4月10日，美国联邦航空管理局表示，美国航空公司一架飞机在华盛顿里根国家机场跑道上滑行时与另一架美国航空公司飞机的机翼尖相撞。
据悉，其中一架飞机载有美国国会议员，事故没有造成人员伤亡。美国联邦航空管理局将对此次事件展开调查。
今年以来，华盛顿里根国家机场附近发生多次事故。美东时间1月29日晚，美国一架载有64人的客机与美军一架载有3人的直升机相撞坠河，无人生还。3月28日，一架达美航空空客A319客机在从里根国家机场起飞时，与一架美国空军T-38喷气机险些相撞，驾驶舱内碰撞警报响起。
孟昭文(Grace Meng)等六名纽约和新泽西州的联邦众议员搭乘的飞机，10日下午在里根国家机场停机坪上被另一架飞机撞到。
据纽约邮报(New York Post)报导，飞机上有纽约州民主党联邦众议员孟昭文、米克斯(Gregory Meeks)、埃斯派亚特(Adriano Espaillat)、托瑞斯(Ritchie Torres)和共和党联邦众议员拉洛塔(Nick LaLota)，以及新泽西州民主党联邦众议员戈特海默(Josh Gottheimer)。
