Scientists are not sure how long giant pandas live in the wild, but they are sure it is shorter than lifespans in zoos. They estimate that lifespan is about 15-20 years for wild pandas and about 30 years for those in human care. Chinese scientists have reported zoo pandas as old as 35.

美国孟菲斯《商业呼声报》最新消息称，据美国田纳西州孟菲斯动物园当地时间2月3日上午发布的一份声明，该动物园内两只大熊猫中的一只离世。
报道还称，“乐乐”的死因“尚未确定”，孟菲斯动物园正在调查。
《商业呼声报》称，离世的大熊猫名叫“乐乐”，终年25岁。
此前，据中国网今年1月3日报道，记者近日从中国动物园协会获悉，尽管在美国孟菲斯动物园开展合作的两只大熊猫“丫丫”和“乐乐”得到了园方的悉心照顾，但由于它们已进入老年期，且“丫丫”患有皮肤病，中国动物园协会已与美方积极协商，尽早接回两只大熊猫。
作为中美共同保护和研究大熊猫计划的一部分，雌性大熊猫“丫丫”和雄性大熊猫“乐乐”于2003年4月抵达孟菲斯动物园开始旅美生涯，协议期限为10年，2013年到期后又延长了10年。
