China of course doesn’t want to decouple from the US as Xi knows darn well how much his country depends on the US. Yet the US-China relationship is beyond repair and the US is determined to end this broken relationship. This move to ban iPhones in China will certainly invite retaliation and help speed up the decoupling process. I can see the US ban the Microsoft Windows in China, among others as the possibility. These are all good developments.
I am really surprised that the Chinese government had not taken this measure earlier, given the US has banned almost everything Chinese (on tech side).
I wish Chinese government could do more to retaliate. Here are a few US companies that derive revenue mostly from China:

The whole thing started with the US politics, and the US politicians should be the first to blame - period!
I fully support the Chinese government’s decision to ban more U.S. products/services in China. And I wish to see the Biden administration up the ante and push all in to complete the decoupling. Our world will be a better place without China.

《日经亚洲》（Nikkei Asia）8日报导，中国大陆中央层级部会、局处员工早在2020年中美交恶期间禁用外国品牌相关产品。多名知情人士透露，这类禁令自今年8月左右已扩及地方省市层级政府、国营企业。消息来源之一是地方政府职员。
北京一家国营企业员工说，她在9月初接获有关此一要求的密件通知，10月1日起适用公司涉及商业机密的部门，明年3月1日起适用所有员工。这名员工还说，过去3年来，她任职的公司一直把限制iPhone使用列为“建议事项”，大多数员工在工作时不用iPhone，但不少人私下会用。最新的通知已把苹果的Apple Watch、Airpod无线耳机也列入禁用项目，不能携入工作场所。
北京当局大约在2018年开始透过汇编“推荐业者与产品”清单的方式，把个人电脑等资讯设备的采购范围缩小至陆资企业。中央部会与局处使用的个人电脑已换用国营企业生产的“长城”产品。
这波风潮现在吹向了智能手机，中央政府一名官员透露，“现在很多同事有2支手机，工作用华为，私下用iPhone。”中国“国家统计局”数据显示，至2021年为止，全国中央、地方政府官员与国营企业职工合计5633万人。
中国大陆是苹果公司最重要的市场之一，包含台湾、香港在内的大中华地区今年4月至6月业绩占全球约20%。iPhone组装生产线也集中于大陆境内。熟悉中国大陆IT产品的一名分析师直言，许多政府员工早就采取iPhone与中国品牌手机同时持有的对策，“但如果党的指导原则扩及民营企业与个人，对于销售数字冲击将是在所难免”。
北京政府2010年限制美国Google、facebook等软件使用，以扶植境内相关产业。美国则对中国华为产品发出禁令，后再禁止联邦机构公务设备使用Tiktok。
